Data Media was founded as a Business Forms Distributorship in December of 1975 by Bob Murphy. The Business Forms Company began by providing business forms and computer supplies to the television, radio, and cable industry. After a few years into the business, Data Media expanded its customer base into the medical field by providing health insurance claim forms, statements, and encounter forms. Data Media was the first company to introduce the currently used 12/90 version of the health insurance claim form to the nation.

In 1993 Bob recognized another need in the market, and added a new division of the company referred to as DataMail. Instead of his clients buying forms and envelopes and doing all of their printing and mailing in house, this work could be outsourced to Data Media. Clients would enjoy the elimination of the laborious task of printing, folding, inserting, and mailing and save both time and money. A very powerful and sophisticated proprietary software system was developed and the latest in printing, folding, and inserting equipment was put in place.

Today, hundreds of billing offices across the nation depend on Data Media to print and mail their statements, invoices, collection letters, and HCFA-1500 forms. While the company provides its services primarily to the medical field, other billing entities such as municipalities, wholesalers, retailers and service related businesses have become part of the customer mix. The DataMail division now occupies 23,000 square feet of the Data Media owned building, and prints and mails over a million pieces of mail every week.

In 2004, Data Media added still another division of the company referred to as DataClaims. The DataClaims division accepts electronic files and processes health insurance claims for medical billing office clients. Medical billing offices can quickly and efficiently get their claims filed and receive their electronic remittances through this service. This latest addition to the services of Data Media satisfies the total need of billing and receiving payments for the medical billing office.
